Winn Correctional Center Atlanta, Louisiana

Located in Atlanta, Louisiana, the Winn Correctional Center opened in 1989. Construction of this stand-alone self-contained prison facility is set on a rural 250-acre site. This project required the construction of more than 30 individual buildings with a total aggregate building area in excess of 340,000 square feet. The individual building elements included cell blocks, cafeterias, dormitories, administration facilities, infirmary, gymnasium, laundry building, warehouse, generator plant, mechanics shop, oxidation pond, and water tower. State of the art detention equipment and security control systems were required throughout the project. Interior finishes included glazed masonry units, exposed cast in place concrete and security glazing systems.

This project was a joint-venture with Oklahoma based Manhattan Construction Group.
