GE Oil and Gas Blowout Preventer Shop Broussard, Louisiana

Client Hydril Pressure Control, a GE Oil & Gas Business
Size 136,000 SF

Contracted by Hydrill USA, a GE Oil & Gas company, this design-build project involved both new construction and renovation, repurposing and addition to existing facilities. Located off Highway 90 in St. Martin Parish, scope included renovation of 12,524 square feet of existing office areas. A 19,591 square foot repurpose project also converted existing metal building space for new Disassembly and Inspection.

An addition of approximately 1,000 square feet of new first floor office space to the existing building allows for the Client’s ever-expanding needs. Additionally, an 81,968 square foot new metal building for Welding, Machining, Assembly & Test and Warehouse space was constructed adjacent to the existing facility.

This renewed and largely repurposed facility now facilitates maintenance and new manufacturing of both standard and Deepwater offshore drilling blowout preventers (BOP) to higher standards which were mandated and implemented as the direct result of the Deepwater Horizon Event. As such, this facility plays an important role in securing the overall safety and reliability of the Drilling Industry.
